I feel unbelievably lucky everyday to get to do something that I love so much. Sometimes I really want to pinch myself. I mean people actually pay me to do what I LOVE!
For a long long time I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up. I thought I'd probably do something creative but I had no idea what. I've never been an amazing artist or poet or visionary. I have always enjoyed people so I assumed I'd do something that involved working with others and I've always loved shopping and considered myself good at it but I didn't think there was a future career for me as a shopper.
When I got married I started decorating my own house and discovered a huge love for design! I would study catalogs for hours. We couldn't afford design magazines or books and it was long before Pinterest and blogs had become so mainstream. Even with a lack of inspiration I was still so inspired. I loved using my own home as a laboratory for experimenting with design. A few years after I got married I started my blog and went back to school for Interior Design. Getting my degree was so hard but so worth it. I have been working on my own business ever since I graduated and it has been such a joy.
Recently I took on a business partner, my best friend Erin Morgan, and together we started House of Jade Interiors.
