Which Blogs do You Keep Reading & My New Favorites

As many of you probably have already discovered Google Reader is no more. I've always gone to all of my favorite blogs directly so I actually never even used my reader so needless to say I'm not too heartbroken about it.  But for all of you who are mourning Google Reader may I suggest using Bloglovin.

As I imported all of my current reads into Bloglovin I decided it was a good opportunity to clean house. I feel like during each stage of my life I've responded to different types of blogs. Do you feel this way? Some of the blogs that used to be daily reads don't appeal to me as much anymore simply because I'm in a different phase of life or my style has changed or maybe the content isn't as good. Either way I weeded through the blogs I don't read anymore and kept only my favorites. I also have been adding in some of my new favorite blogs. I have been discovering so many great new bloggers on instagram lately. Usually I'll fall in love with someone's lifestyle on instagram and eventually find my way over to their blog because I want to see more! I wanted to share a few of my new favorites with you today!

My sister first introduced me to Hailey about a year ago and instantly fell in love with her and I'm sure you will too. She and her hubby travel the world taking amazing pictures and making incredible videos.

I think the thing that got me hooked on Jen's blog was her authenticity. She is a really talented writer and just recently quit her job as a reporter to stay at home with her baby. She highlights and celebrates women on her blog and I can't get enough!

If you want to read a blog that will inspire you and make you laugh you have to check out Alison's blog. She is like a witty Martha Stewart. I also feel like she's putting the cool back into crafting.

I love checking in with Small Fry daily. Not only is it an adorable blog but it was also started by three girls from my high school which makes it even more special to me. They are making motherhood look stylish, beautiful and fun! They come up with simple crafts and highlight real women and give great advice on dealing with motherhood.

I am a sucker for light and bright photography which is why I adore Ginger's blog. She showcases life as a mom as being beautiful and joyful. I feel so happy every time I stop by her blog.
My friend Megan recently started an adorable children's blog. Sweet Little Peanut is full of crafts, parties and fashion for little kids. I've already tried a bunch of their ideas with Jett and I can't wait to see what else they come up with!

What are your favorite new blogs to read? Any old favorites that you'll never get sick of?

And don't forget to follow my blog through bloglovin!

  1. I definitely feel you on "cleaning house". I left Google Reader a few months back when it was first announced they'd be closing up shop. I use Bloglovin' now and love it. But I didn't really bother adding some of the blogs that had begun to bore me in the last year or so. Yours is still in it though! www.thegymbunny.com / www.styleoyster.blogspot.com

  2. Over the last 4 years blogging, I definitely evolved what I'm into reading. I also love adding new blogs and then weeding them out when I decide they no longer really interest me. I add a lot from finding them on other blogs or comments on mine, and sometimes I just realize I'm not making a connection with the blogger or content. Once I immediately start hitting new posts as "read" without actually reading them, that's when I know it's time to break up :)

    Thanks for sharing your fav's!

  5. Ooooh, I'm definitely going to check these out! And I'm with you on cleaning house. I have way too many blogs in my reader (I migrated over to feedly) and I feel like I'm wasting SO much time going through a clogged up feed. I need a fresh slate!

As for favorite blogs, one of mine is Love Taza (http://lovetaza.com/). The photos are great, the kids are adorable and it's a fun little slice of life. I also really love Henry Happened (http://www.henryhappened.com/) for DIYs!

  10. I'll have to check out those blogs, thanks. Honestly, I have dropped almost all the design blogs I used to read. Yours is still my daily check in along with Pure Style Home and occasionally some others. But so many seemed to have changed. There's just not the authenticity there used to be. It's hard to explain, sorry!

  12. This whole blog mess has been such a headache! I switched months ago to feedly but then a week before google went off-air everything was deleted from feedly on my desktop, not my phone or tablet, just my desktop where I do most of my reading and won't sync up to the others. I am having to resubscribe to all my blogs over to bloglovin since feedly chooses not to respond to my ?s. I already did my weeded months ago mostly parenting blogs that didn't apply since my kiddos have gotten bigger, still love yours.

  13. Thanks for the intro to these blogs! I rarely have time to read these days, so when I do visit a blog, they are usually quite deserving of my time.

  14. Thanks for the blog suggestions. Will definitely check them out. I actually came across a hilarious blog yesterday that was recommended by a friend - http://victoriaelizabethbarnes.com/huge-victorian-antique-mirror/

I don't know this woman and only started checking the blog but it was the funniest, wittiest, thing I have read in a while.

And of course, your blog remains one of my favorites :)

  17. I need to do the same. I'm sure my blog won't get added by many but that's ok, I write it for myself as I started it when I lost my son during my grieving more to stay in touch with people when I couldn't face them. Now I feel as though it is something to do for him daily. I do have loyal readers and for that I am thankful. I love reading your blog and seeing your beautiful children. My blog is in the process of a facelift, so hopefully it will continue to be liked. Happy 4th!

    1. Lisa what a wonderful way to put it. I agree that losing readers is just part of the process. As people grow they get inspired by different things so I will always be losing some and gaining others :)

  20. Are you familiar with Joy prouty's blog: http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/ ... ? she is an incredible photographer of families and children from LA~ even has celebrity testimonials, etc. :-) I ran across her work while following Katie Daisy on Instagram, because Katie painted flowers on Joy's camper. Anyway, Joy and her hubs and four kids sold their home and belongings and are traveling the US in a 1950's trailer~ they are striving to live simply, but EVERYTHING she captures on film is so magical! (they just left the forests of Oregon!) :-) check her out!

  21. I love your blog and check it each morning while eating breakfast. I've never used Google reader. I have a handful of favorites that I go directly to.. Emily A Clark, Jones Design Co. and Young House Love are others that are good reads.

  22. It's always interesting to see lists of what blogs others read. My son is 16, so he was little long before blogs were popular for sharing mommy stories and fun things to do with kids. I read blogs related to interior design and modern DIYs. If there are some family posts here and there, I'm okay with that, but if family/personal posts are the majority, I don't start reading.

Usually what draws me in is a particular project and then I look at their house photos. If I like her style, I stick around for a while to see what else is going on. However, I'm about 3 months behind on my blog reading (I was an early switcher to Bloglovin'), so clearly I still need to weed through and drop a few blogs that aren't as inspiring to me as others.

  26. Agreed. After a week's vacation, I've come back to an insanely clogged Bloglovin home page. Time to weed. There are entire blogs that I just "Mark as Read" without even skimming--usually the ones that have turned from design to more fashion/makeup/celebrity themes, which do very little for me. Yours is still on heavy rotation for me though :)

Never heard of any of the blogs you mention above. The headers alone look so professional and well done--it's giving me a complex about my own DIYd layout. I promise to get over it and check them all out! ;)
