Yesterday I got an email from a reader requesting some of my favorite online fabric sources. I thought I would share a few of them with you here on my blog!
Fabric.com is amazing. It's hard to navigate through so it helps to know the exact product name so you can type it in the search bar. They carry a good selection of Dwell Studio fabrics. They also carry Premier Prints fabrics at a lower price than Premier Prints carries them. The important thing to remember with Fabric.com is that a lot of their fabric is damaged slightly which is why they can get it for such a great deal.
Most of the fabric carried at Premier Prints is less than $10 a yard. They have some great prints and I often recommend them to clients for curtains because curtains require a lot of yardage.
L & S Fabrics have a really good selection. I like that they carry a lot of Duralee fabrics because they are sometimes hard to find online.
I really love Calico Corners but I find that most of their fabrics are a little over-priced so you need to be careful. I always shop around first just to make sure I can't find it cheaper somewhere else. They also carry a lot of Duralee Fabrics and they just started carrying Dwell Studio.
Spoonflower has really great graphic and geometric prints. And if you don't find what you are looking for you can always create it yourself!
Jo-ann has always had a great selection of Robert Allen and Waverly Fabrics. They often have sales too so I wouldn't put an order in unless the fabric is on sale.
These are all of my favorite online sources that anyone can shop at. There are also many amazing designer fabrics that are out there. These are sold to the trade only but you can get them through a designer. Just let me know if you're interested in any.
I would love to hear your favorite online fabric sources!

Kirsten - the timing for this post could not have been better! I'm realizing just how much curtain fabric I'll be needing for my new house. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove all of those stores, most of them are very cost efficient.

This is perfect, Kirsten, thank you! I've been checking Joann and Fabric.com but you also provided some new ones I've never explored. Carol @ The Design Pages also sent me a link to Tonic Fabric which I thought was a cool site with some different fabrics - I haven't gotten a lot of time to explore but I saw some fun fabrics just from a quick look: http://www.tonicliving.com/index.asp
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you for posting this! I always have a hard time finding fabric so some new resources are very helpful. I'll be checking some of these out for sure!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the list of fabric sources! I also like fabricworm.com, too. They have a lot of brands that I haven't seen elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteWell you took all my favorites! Seriously, I have the exact same list :)
ReplyDeletePlease be careful when ordering through Fabric.com.
ReplyDeleteI order quite a bit of yardage through them for some drapes. They didn't wrap it in plastic, just put the roll into a cardboard box. The box got wet and the fabric got stained. I had to send it the whole thing back.
When the replacement got shipped to me, it was stained also. Needless to say, I don't think I will be using them in the future.
What perfect timing. I was looking for some fabric for my playroom and I have not perused a few of these...thanks!!
ReplyDeleteThis is SO great! Thank you for sharing your amazing resources! I know what I'll be doing today...
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing this!!! It's awesome.

I have just received a bunch of samples from fabric.com, for myself and clients, one of my favorite sites. I do frequent calico corners when the budgets allow and because I like their workmanship. Great post!

I'm so happy you posted this because I have been wondering this very thing. I'm off to browse curtains for my living room. Although, I should probably enlist your help. I'm sure the results would be much better. :)
ReplyDeleteTonic Living has a great selection of fabrics also:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I ordered some linen fabric from fabric.com that has worked out great on my newly re-upholstered loveseat. I like their selection but you are right, it is hard to navigate through.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing - not only the sources but more importantly your comments for each one - thanks!!!

hi Kirsten, Thanks for the list of fabric sources! I'm familiar with most of those sites, but i had no clue L&S, was close by in Atlanta.
ReplyDeleteGreat info. I just wanted to chime in and let you know we recently used Spoonflower to have custom fabric made (we used for table runners) that matched some paper goods we created. It was for a non-profit Operation Shower baby shower with Michelle Obama & Martha Stewart. You can see it here: http://celebrationsathomeblog.com/2011/06/vintage-toy-baby-shower-operation-shower.html
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great suggestions!! I too love fabric.com... I also like fabricguru.com
ReplyDeleteAlicia nailed it........fabricguru.com is THE BEST!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing! My local Joann's is very limited on their fabric so this is opening so many possibilities for me.
ReplyDeleteHave to give a shout out to tonicliving.com... they have a fun selection, great customer service, and do custom drapes, etc, as well.
ReplyDeleteI love how you displayed the fabrics. Nice job!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy oh why can't I sew! what lovely fabric!!

Great reference list but have you seen our site at www.onlinefabricstore.net? We carry thousands of designer fabrics (NOT seconds) and have a great blog as well.

ReplyDeleteI have found a place called www.tonicliving.com that I really like also.
Thanks for posting!
thank you so much for sharing! Can't wait to browse through these later
ReplyDeleteLove the resources! I've been looking for the fabric under your "JoAnn" section. The gray/white one. Do you know the name of it, or who makes it? I just searched JoAnn's site by color and couldn't find it.
ReplyDeleteTHANKS!
Great round up. There are so many good ones. Housefabric works too and sometimes I go to some Etsy sources.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Enjoyed seeing your go-to resources.
ReplyDeleteThe first fabric under JoAnn's- is it Chiang Mai Dragon by Schumacher's? It looks like Robert Allen's kiki pinata fabric but I see the dragon?
ReplyDeleteSo many cute patterns!
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking specifically for knits for your next project, check out our online store at http://www.girlcharlee.com. We carry a variety of great cotton jersey, lycra, and ribbed knits!
Girl Charlee
You also might want to check out Fabric Street! They have a great selection and pretty low prices per yard.

ReplyDeleteLove this post! I wanted to second (well, third?) tonicliving.com. They have some unique and fun fabrics in a range of prices, and ordering samples is very reasonable.
